Golden Berries
Inca berries, Peruvian ground berries, giant ground cherry, Peruvian tomatillo are just a few of the names that the yellow-orange fruit is known by. The official name is Physalis peruviana but in Peru we call them Aguaymanto.

Peruvians have been consuming Aguaymanto for thousands of years. It was one of the native fruit in the time of the Incas and was even cultivated in the sacred valley of the Incas.
The plant or bush produces round, yellow fruits, 1.50 – 2.00 cm in diameter. The fruit has a cocoon type shell made from a paper-like texture. After picking the fruits, they are sorted, washed and dehydrated to preserve the typical bittersweet flavor and the high nutrients.
